Enjoy our garden – featured in “SA Life” magazine and the Australian Open Garden Scheme
The garden at Caroline Hills is sometimes open as part of Australia's Open Garden Scheme. Deciduous and native trees shelter a large rambling country garden with a focus on form, texture and perfume. Lavender and box hedging encloses herb, vegetable and rose gardens. Extensive lawns provide a cool basis for winding paths leading to garden beds with perennials, shrubs and grasses, a glasshouse, pond, courtyard, sculptures, tennis court and orchard.
The garden provides a peaceful centre for vegetable and fruit growing, tennis, barbecues, animated conversation on the patio, wandering with a glass of wine and much physical exercise.
It is the garden surrounding the now homely cottage that is the star performer of this slice of heaven; a garden with many aspects, many designs and so many spectacular surprises.
You can sense the effort, time and love that has gone into the almost one hectare garden that surrounds the restored stone house.
Caroline Hill stands as a pristine tribute to their hard work, clever plant selection and careful planning.
